Buckle up kids, this is gonna be the longest one yet.
To introduce the fam is to sum up some of the best people I’ve ever met into a short ‘few’ pictures and words, and that is bound to be difficult. So here goes nothing.
Disclaimer: The family has changed and grown so much over time, so we’ll start with the OG’s.
Dragosh-OG

In all honesty, these people became family so quickly. Faster than I would have ever expected some kids from Canada/Moldova, Mexico, California, Oregon, Tennessee, Russia/Washington/Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to become.
Sometimes people walk into your life at the exact point that you need them to and it becomes the best part of it so suddenly, but so surely. I have nothing but love for all of these people and I cannot express how grateful I am that I had the privilege of traveling the world with them for months.
I was talking to a friend toward the end of the trip and mentioned how we had all been together on our first day in Spain. He was so shocked that we had all known each other, let alone been friends so early on in the voyage. Thinking about it, it really is crazy that we all connected so instantly, most of us the first day or two, and then stayed together until the minute we had to step off of our ship.
People called us The Fam pretty commonly on the ship, and I am going to miss hearing that so much. It was so fitting, we were such a close-knit unit even when we weren’t together, for the most part. That’s not something I had ever had before, such an amazing group of friends who were all so close, and it’s something I cherish the most from Semester at Sea.
We spent one of our last nights with the OG fam, watching videos from as early as Spain. We got to all sit in a cabin that was so familiar to us and watch as we all grew and changed throughout the last four months. And we did, so much. We got closer and dynamics changed, and we learned so much about ourselves and the world that we couldn’t possibly be the same as when we got on the ship.
I love you all so much and I love having so many amazing, funny, tragic, educational, and life-changing memories with you.
Stay cool, family reunion soon. xoxo
